La Monnaie de Paris, 11 quai de Conti - 75006 Paris
From March 30, 2023 to September 24, 2023
Explore the relationship between money and art over the centuries in the exhibition at the Monnaie de Paris.
Presented in the historic reception rooms of the Hôtel de la Monnaie in Paris, the exhibition L'Argent dans l'Art (‘Money in Art’) explores more than 20 centuries of art history on the theme of the complex relationship between art and money, from Antiquity to the present day.
From the first representations of myths in Antiquity to the vision of the art market in the 19th and 20th centuries, visitors will discover nearly 150 pieces from the history of art in which an imaginary world centred on money unfolds.
Various themes are addressed, such as "The Christian morality of money", "The world of finance" and "The value of art: what does the artist sell?” through the works of painters like Degas, Renoir, Louis le Nain, Arman and Warhol.
Exhibition runs from 30 March to 24 September 2023.
From 11am to 6pm. From 11am to 9pm Wednesday. Closed on Monday
