The Maison Victor Hugo is devoting an exhibition to François Chifflart, illustrator of the works of the famous 19th-century French writer.
An exhibition at the Maison Victor Hugo in Paris highlights the work of François Chifflart (1825-1901), the outstanding illustrator of Victor Hugo's Les Travailleurs de la Mer, Notre-Dame de Paris and La légende des siècles. Trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, François Chifflart excelled in the graphic arts and the etching technique. Nearly 170 works from the museum's collections and on loan from institutions such as the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the Hôtel Sandelin museum in Saint-Omer will be on show from 7 November 2024 to 23 March 2025.
