Contemporary Lithuanian art is on show at the Centre Pompidou from this autumn.
The Centre Pompidou in Paris is offering visitors the chance to discover Lithuanian art through two exhibitions entitled Contemporary Art in Lithuania from 1960 to the present day. A major donation and Kazys Varnelis. The classicist op from Lithuania. The first exhibition presents the donation to the Centre Pompidou of works by Lithuanian artists dating from 1960 to the present day. Among the artists on show are daring works by artists who were repressed under the Soviet occupation, as well as innovative contemporary artists. The second exhibition reveals the world of abstract painter Kazys Varnelis, through some fifteen works dating from the 1970s. On view from 14 September 2024 to 6 January 2025.
