Opéra national de Paris - Palais Garnier, Place de l'Opéra - 75009 Paris
From May 8, 2025 to June 4, 2025
The legendary classical ballet returns to the Palais Garnier nearly 150 years after its premiere on this very stage.
Sylvia was the first classical ballet to be performed at the Palais Garnier in 1876. Louis Mérante's choreography, set to music by Leo Delibes, tells the story of Sylvia, a nymph of Diana, goddess of the hunt, who is forced into chastity despite being in love with Aminta. This famous show is returning to the stage of the Palais Garnier from 8 May to 4 June 2025 in a new version by Manuel Legris. The former star dancer of the Paris Opera and current director of the Ballet de la Scala in Milan brings more depth to this mythological tale by revealing the heroine's inner conflict and giving more prominence to the male roles.
