OVERVIEW OF SUMMER 2024

International air arrivals forecast to date for the summer period (1 July-30 Sept.) are down -3.8% on 2023. There are five periods.

  • The pre-Olympic period (1-25 July), with international arrivals expected to fall by 14.8% compared with 2023: an almost generalised withdrawal of markets, following on from those recorded in the second half of May and in June (-7.3%).
  • The Olympic period (26 July-11 August), with international arrivals expected to grow by +11.4% vs 2023. Europe (+23.8%) and North America (+15.1%) are driving growth. The Middle East (-42.8%) and Oceania (-30.2%) are in decline.
  • The intermediate period (12-27 August), with an improved outlook (+9.8% in forecast arrivals vs 2023) and growth driven by traditional markets (including +24.4% for North America).
  • The Paralympics and post-paralympics periods (28 August-30 September), at -4.0% and -3.6% respectively vs 2023. Volumes are not yet representative. For the time being, only North America is showing tangible growth prospects.

EVENT
The Olympic Flame will stop off in Paris on 14 and 15 July, then criss-cross the Île-de-France region from 19 to 26 July.

FORECAST INTERNATIONAL AIR ARRIVALS
-14.8% to date vs. 2023, and -16.4% vs. 2019.
Forecast arrivals of North American tourists are down -9.4% on 2023, and -2.9% on 2019.

HOTEL RESERVATION RATE AT 17 JUNE
The average occupancy rate forecast for the first ten days of July is 60%. This is around ten points down on last year.

International air arrivals for Paris are up 11.4% on 2023 for the Olympic Games; down 4.0% for the Paralympic Games.

Hotel prices - Greater Paris: the average prices applied to date are €342 during the Olympic period and €208 during the Paralympic Games. In Greater Paris, they were €202 in July 2023 and €161 in August 2023.
